Adventures in a "Man's World"

Poker was once a man's game, but not anymore, not by a longshot. My name is Shirley Rosario, and welcome to my world.

While the majority of successful poker players are men, more female players are getting involved and taking the game seriously as a way to make money. They also bring a different perspective to the game, because even in this day and age, there is still a lot of "us versus them" thinking among male players. And thank goodness, because when my opponents think that way, it makes me money. Six years of my ongoing adventures in the poker world are detailed in my Poker Journal (linked at the top left of the page).

I used to work as a prop player at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles and have played poker tournaments seriously since 2002. My favorite games are Omaha High Low, No Limit Hold'em and mixed game events like HORSE. In the time I've been playing tournaments, I have met many of the best tournament poker players like World Series of Poker winners Chris Moneymaker, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Mike Matusow, Phil Ivey, Annette Obrestad and World Poker Tour winners like Gus Hansen and Phil Laak and Jennifer Tilly. Although there are basic facts on each player, I also include my opinions on their styles of play and personalities. Agree or disagree, that's okay, just remember this is my website and has my opinions.

The Poker Articles section covers strategy topics and structure rules for games like Badugi and Razz, and includes guest poker advice from other players. Many World Series of Poker players have their own bio pages. The Poker Tournaments section has reports from tournaments I have won or played in, like the California State Poker Championship.

The Online Poker Rooms section includes information on the online sites I play on. Also in the online poker statistics section we have articles looking at ranking sites and tracking software like PokerTracker and Official Poker Rankings.

There are also photos pages (including some of Shana Hiatt, Courtney Friel and Kimberly Lansing) and other sites pages. The poker terms section ranges from Ace to Wild card, and includes common terms like Angle and Pot Odds plus less common ones like Fold Equity.
