Chad Brown was born
in Manhattan, New York in 1961. He was first introduced to poker by his father, who ran a seven-card stud game. Raised in the Bronx,
Brown would often play poker in Italian cafes but never intended on ever playing for a living. In fact, he originally planned on
becoming an actor. Brown trained for years in New York, working on his acting and taking voice lessons. In addition to his theatrical
work, Brown played semi-professional baseball in New York. Torn between his passions for baseball and acting, Brown ultimately gave up
his major league dreams in hopes of becoming a television star. He landed his first role on the soap opera Another World shortly
before he moved to Los Angeles in the 1990s to further pursue his career. Several small roles in television and films followed,
including Basket Case 2 and Miami Hustle. He also worked as an assistant host on the game show Caesars Challenge, taped at Caesars
Palace in Las Vegas. He dabbled in modeling, appearing in a commercial for Jordache Jeans, which he found “boring.” As he searched for
his big break and kept coming up short, Brown began supplementing his income by playing poker in the California card rooms. Soon
enough, he realized that poker was a better fit and proved to be more lucrative then acting.
Brown made his first notable tournament score at the 1993 World Series of Poker when he took 11th in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event,
just missing the final table but taking home over $6,500 for his efforts. For the next decade, Brown grinded it out in the Los Angeles
and Las Vegas tournaments and cash games, making a decent living but still looking for his big break, just as he had as an actor. It
was in 2002 that Brown made a splash, first drawing attention with a 3rd place World Series of Poker finish in the $1500 Omaha Hi/Lo
event that year. He followed with a 1st place win at the Bellagio Five Diamond Poker Classic that December, earning over $36,000 in
the $1000 Stud Hi/Lo event. Brown didn’t look back and continued to dominate on the tournament circuit, finding cashes in a wide
variety of games. Brown’s accomplishments are many and include major cashes at the World Series of Poker, the World Poker Tour, and
the European Poker Tour. In 2007, Brown showcased his heads-up abilities when he defeated many of best players in the world at the NBC
Heads-Up Poker Championship, finishing 2nd to Paul Wasicka.

After Brown finished 2nd to Ted Forrest in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event at the 2004 WSOP, he caught the eye of a Hollywood
producer. Soon Brown became the host of the Ultimate Poker Challenge alongside Brandi Williams, where he utilized his acting skills
and poker experience to provide commentary for the show.
Brown was named Bluff
Magazine’s Player of the Year in 2006, an accomplishment that he obtained in a humorous way. After an incredible run that year, including six
WPT cashes and two at the WSOP, Brown knew he was in contention for the prestigious award. He flew to London to play in the European Poker Tour
Championship, only to find out that the event didn’t qualify to earn points towards Bluff’s race. However, Brown didn’t leave empty handed,
taking 5th place and over $110,000 for his time. Still scrambling in an attempt to win Player of the Year, he flew to Atlantic City for a
stud event which didn’t end up qualifying either because of the low amount of entries. Disheartened, Brown went to his room to play
online and ended up winning the $5,200 HORSE event in the
World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) on
PokerStars.com. Brown took home over $223,000 for his victory, along with the respect of the online poker community. Undoubtedly
pleased but still determined to be Player of the Year, Brown flew to Las Vegas to compete in the Festa Al Lago tournament series at
the Bellagio. He finished 5th in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em event, winning nearly $30,000 and finally clenching the prestigious title
of Bluff’s Poker Player of the Year.
In addition to his poker accomplishments, Chad Brown is also famous for landing one of poker’s most eligible bachelorettes, poker pro
Vanessa Rousso. The couple met while seated at the same
table in a $10,000 buy-in tournament at the Bellagio. Now married and both members of Team PokerStars Pro, Brown and Rousso frequently
travel the globe together, playing in the biggest and most prestigious tournaments. In September of 2009, the couple hosted the Gulf
Coast Poker Championship at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. Amazingly, Brown won two of the events; the $500 Pot Limit Omaha
for $32,000 and the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship for over $225,000. With results like these, there is no sign of Brown slowing
down. He continuously keeps up a strict fitness and nutrition regimen, understanding the correlation between being physically and
mentally fit. He is the author of the strategy book “Act to Win in Texas Hold’em Poker” and can be found playing online under the
screen name “ChadBrownPRO” on PokerStars.
