 Cyndy Violette is one
of the most successful female poker players around. As a matter of fact, she was one of the first accomplished female players
in a so called "man's game." Cyndy was dominating high stakes games for many years before making an even bigger name
for herself on the tournament trail.
Cyndy started playing tournament poker in 1984. She won a Golden Nugget tournament (7 Card Stud) and took home $74,000
(the most money ever won by a woman at the time) and she was hooked. She took a short break from poker when she married
her second husband, but she couldn't stay away from the tables long. On a trip to Caesars Palace in 1990, she won a tournament
and decided to start playing again because she loved the game.
After getting divorced in 1993, she started playing at the Taj Majal and ended up buying a house in Atlantic City. She
played the live action games in her home town, but would always travel to Las Vegas to play in the
World Series of Poker. In 2004, Cyndy won her first gold
bracelet in the Seven Stud Hi Low event and took home $135,900. Her win helped her secure a seat in the
World Poker Tour
Ladies Night 2 event (where six women are invited to play). Since the broadcast of that event, Cyndy has appeared on
television numerous times including the Poker Superstars Invitational.
Serious poker players that have been playing the game for awhile have known Cyndy (or at least known of her) for some time, but
she is finally getting recognition from the newcomers to the game and the fans. The funny thing is, a lot of people talk about
her looks rather than her exceptional poker skills (especially in Stud). I have seen numerous debates on "the hottest female
in poker" and her name has come up a lot. I am positive that she has been able to use her good looks to help her at the table.
Cyndy leads a healthy life. She is a vegetarian and works out on a regular basis. The first time I ever sat at the table with her,
she had a yoga shirt on, had her spirit stones sitting in front of her, and ate her home cooked vegetarian meal while playing.
In one of the articles I read, she mentioned that she would like to open her own health food café. She even has a section
dedicated to healthy perspectives on her personal website.
The best thing about Cyndy is she is as sweet as she is cute and talented. She has a pleasant demeanor and always has a smile on her face.
