Mike
"The Mouth" Matusow has earned his nickname tenfold. If you ever get a chance to sit at a table with him, you will realize within ten minutes
why he is called "The Mouth". The first time I ever sat with Mike was at the$5000 Omaha event at the 2004 World Series of Poker. One would think
that a $5000 buy-in tournament would be enough action for a player, but not for Mike. He spent the first hour and a half of the tournament, booking side action
bets from anybody in the room he could. I needed some earplugs.
If you haven't had the pleasure (or pain) of sitting with him, then you have probably heard him jabbering on television. The televised episodes of
the main event of the WSOP focus on Mike a lot. He went to battle several times with Greg Raymer in 2004 and didn't fair well against him. He talked
some trash to Greg and when he tried to shake Greg's hand a short time later, Greg refused. One of the things I remember most from that year was
Mike's interview. He talked about his life and how he has changed. Supposedly he lived a fast life and had recently put it behind him. I was
touched by his interview and felt bad when he was eliminated (after a few tough beats). After the World Series aired, Mike was sentenced to six months
in jail for a previous arrest for buying drugs for an undercover cop.
Matusow also appears to be highly emotional. He cried when busting out in 2004 and sometimes during tournaments he has a "Matusow Meltdown."
A meltdown is when he plays great at the beginning of the tournament and then blows it in one hand or a short span for one reason or another.
In the 2005 WSOP, it appeared that Mike was on the verge of having one. He was accused of throwing cards by a dealer. When the tournament director
was called to make his decision, Mike defended himself and the other players at the table agreed with him. The tournament director let him off
with a warning but a few seconds later (still mad about the accusation) he said the F-word. The director said he now had to give him a ten minute
penalty because you can't say the F-word. Mike's response was "F that" and he accumulated an additional ten minutes. "F-ing great"
he said. While walking away, he let off one more F-bomb and took his 40 minute penalty and received a small round of applause from the spectators.
Mike Matusow resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and is known as one of the best Omaha Hi Low players in the world. He started out as a dealer in Las Vegas
at the Orleans and Sam's Town Casino. He played Omaha Hi Low in the late night games at Sam's Casino. He decided to play full time and is now part
of the FullTilt Poker. He finished in 9th place in the 2005 World Series of Poker main event. Ray Bitar, the CEO of TiltWare, said "Mike Matusow
has made FullTilt Poker proud as he was the last big name pro standing in the largest poker tournament in history." Some of his other accomplishments
include three WSOP bracelets for the 2008 Deuce to Seven event, 2002 Omaha Hi Low event and the 1999 No Limit Holdem event. He has also appeared on the
World Poker Tour where he finished third in the 2004 Aruba Ultimate Bet
Poker Classic, 2nd at the Bellagio Cup and 6th at the Borgata Poker Open in Atlantic City. In 2005, Mike won the World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions.

Full Tilt Poker.
This profile would not be complete without a few chosen Matusowisms:
"I believe in my heart I'm one of the top five No Limit Holdem players in the World. It's the only thing I do good. I'm an idiot when it comes
to anything else."
"I think I'm probably the most well-liked person on the tour, I think most people love me, I mean I have a lot of fun with people. I needle them,
but I needle them in a nice way."
"I got no fear. I'm fearless. I'm not afraid to go broke. I'm not afraid to put my whole tournament on the line, I'm a great poker player, and
they're all gonna see that."
"There's over 2000 donkeys in this tournament and I had to be at the table with none of them."
"There's no skill in poker. Poker is a joke. Tournament poker is a joke. Whoever gets most lucky is the next superstar."
"I'm playing the best poker of my life."
"I thought this was my year, I felt I was the best player at the table. I'm pissed that I didn't get a chance to play when it got down to
five or six handed." (ESPN Interview, after getting busted from the 2005 final table)
