Anyone who follows poker will know the
name Noah “Exclusive” Boeken. Famous for his boyish good looks and mild mannered attitude at the tables, Boeken has proven himself to
be a fierce competitor in both online and live poker arenas. Fueled by his competitive nature and solid background in strategy games,
Boeken has become a well known player, particularly in Europe where he has been called “The EPT King” due to his consistent success on
the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT).
Noah Boeken was born on January 6, 1981 in Amsterdam. Before getting into poker, Boeken conquered the world of Magic: The Gathering, a
competitive card game that, like poker, combines both luck and skill and is often played for money. He would travel the world playing
Magic tournaments, making a name for himself (and some serious cash) in the game. In 1997, Boeken finished 15th place in the Pro Tour
Chicago and went on to place 32nd at the Pro Tour Mainz. After he was crowned the 2000 European Magic champion and pocketed $11,500,
Boeken decided to find a new game to challenge his mind. It was in 2001 that he discovered online poker and quickly found that it came
naturally to him. “I played tournaments all over the world so I was already into card games and tournaments,” he said. “My friends
started playing poker and that's how I got into it and it's just the same thing.”
When Boeken discovered that he could easily earn more money playing poker than playing Magic, he was hooked. In 2003, the young
Dutchman made the decision to drop out of his university (where he was studying economics) to pursue his poker career full time. While
Boeken played regularly online, he also frequented the local Dutch casinos where he enjoyed the live action. It was in the brick and
mortar card rooms that he met and befriended Marcel Luske, a fellow Dutch poker player who was already established as a well known
professional. Luske soon became Boeken’s mentor and helped him develop his game. Both American poker pro (and former Magic player)
David Williams and Russian poker player Kirill Gerasimov also call Luske their poker mentor. To this day, Boeken is sometimes referred
to as “Mini-Marcel” because the two are seemingly inseparable.

After collecting several decent tournament cashes in 2003 and 2004, including a 6th place finish at the European Poker Tour in London,
Boeken caught the poker world’s attention when he won the 2005 EPT Scandinavian Open in Copenhagen for over $191,000. The victory
proved to be the start of an explosive breakout year for the young player, as he went on to put up consistent tournament results in
international events, including two World Series of Poker cashes and another deep run at the EPT, this time finishing 11th at the
Irish Winter Festival of Poker in Dublin. Boeken never seemed to look back and continued to cash in several events year after year,
all around the world. He has earned his nickname “The EPT King” after cashing an astounding seven times on the European Poker Tour by
2010, taking home $325,000 for these events alone. Besides his live successes, he has been a force to reckon with in the world of
online poker and has impressively topped the PokerStars Tournament Leader Board several times.
In 2007, Boeken was invited to join the prestigious group of poker professionals that make up Team PokerStars Pro. That same year, him
and Marcel Luske started a Dutch television show called “Veronica Poker” in which they taught Dutch celebrities how to play the game,
eventually turning them loose to play against one another with the winner receiving a buy-in to a live event in Las Vegas. The Boeken
– Luske duo paired up once more in 2007 to start a second television show called “Poker Kings NL” in which the two pros were followed
by cameras as they traveled the globe playing tournaments.
When asked about his future plans, Noah Boeken has said that while he enjoys the poker lifestyle, he takes it with a grain of salt and
understands the downsides to the business as well. Although he has expressed the desire to eventually move away from the game, there
seems to be no end in sight for his poker successes. When Boeken is not traveling the live tournament circuit, you can find him
hanging out at his home in Amsterdam or playing on PokerStars under the name “Exclusive.”
