PokerStars.com
is always a great site to play on. They have a huge selection of games and terrific software.
Their default background is neutral and simple which makes it very easy to focus on the game. While playing on
PokerStars, you will notice the game and the action at the table, not the background. There is no bold colors, no Hawaiian
print carpet, no small tables with pretend beverages on them (unless you choose one of their more "fun" background
scenes).
The site was the first online poker room to offer a place to store notes on players. If you think the player is an idiot,
just double click on their name and type in whatever you want (it is for your eyes only). You can also transfer money to any
other player on the site by clicking the "requests" button in the lobby. You can also search for particular players.
One of my favorite things about Stars is their tournaments. You can often find me playing there. They offer
Sit N Go's (either one table or two tables)
and a variety of multi-table tournaments including rebuy tournaments. In No Limit or Pot Limit tournaments, they have a slide
bar that works great. You can increase the size of the bet by increments. If you want to double the blind, just click the
slide bar once. If you want to triple the blind, just click it twice, etc. You can also type in the amount and press enter.
You do not need to move the mouse to bet the amount you want to. You can also find out how your friend is doing by double
clicking his name in the tournament lobby. It will tell you how many chips he has and what table he is on.
If you want to play four games at once, you can resize the windows to meet your needs. The custom feature is great
for players who like to multi-table.
The support team is fantastic. If players decide to make a deal when they are playing a multi-table tournament, support is there
to assist. In single or two-table tournaments, a player can e-mail them if a deal has been made. All e-mails get a timely and
personal response.
I know many good players go to PokerStars because the features are so good, but like any online site there are bad
players as well. In the multi-table tournaments, there is a mix of competition. You can play with anyone from
complete novices to World Champions like Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, and Joe Hachem.
