Team PokerStars
Pro is a group of poker professionals and celebrities that travel the globe, playing in the tournaments as representatives for the site.
Bringing an interesting and diverse mix of backgrounds and experiences, the members of Team PokerStars Pro have each established
themselves as a star in the community to be included in this prestigious group of players.
Team PokerStars includes four World Series of Poker champions.
Perhaps the player most important to the popularity of poker in the last few years is
Chris Moneymaker. As the 2003 World Series of Poker champion,
Moneymaker proved to the world that even an amateur can become a millionaire overnight. Because Moneymaker qualified for the Main Event on
PokerStars, he was an easy fit as an ambassador for the site and the game. The very next year, another PokerStars qualifier took home the
2004 WSOP Main Event bracelet. This time it was Greg Raymer,
"Fossilman." Cashing deep in the WSOP Main Event in 2005 and winning a PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker title in
2007 has proven Raymer is no one-trick pony. 2005 brought a record breaking 5,618 players to the WSOP Main Event, and Australian Joe Hachem
became the third straight champion to join the team. Winning the Main Event was just one of many accomplishments for Team PokerStars member
Tom McEvoy. He has cashed in thirty WSOP events and has earned four bracelets, all in different games. McEvoy has written or co-authored
twelve poker strategy books and is one of the most seasoned members of the team.
Daniel Negreanu is one of the most popular players on Team
PokerStars. Boasting four World Series of Poker bracelets and two World Poker Tour titles, Negreanu is also a regular contributor to Card
Player Magazine and the author of two poker strategy books. Known to the world as “Kid Poker,” Negreanu is one of the most accomplished
members of the team.
Another impressive Team member is Barry Greenstein. As a
lifelong player, Greenstein has continued to impress the world with his successes year after year. He has over thirty cashes at the World
Series of Poker, including twelve final table appearances and three bracelets. For a time Greenstein donated all of his tournament winnings to
multiple charities, earning him the nickname the Robin Hood of Poker. Despite his amazing generosity, Greenstein still remains one of the top
cash game players in the world. His accomplishments on and off the felt make him one of the most interesting and well-known members of Team PokerStars.
Isabelle Mercier is one of the most recognizable female players
in the world and also a member of Team PokerStars. As the former poker room manager at the Aviation Club de France in Paris, Mercier easily made
the transition into playing professionally. Her tournament career includes three World Series of Poker cashes and a win at the World Poker Tour’s
“Ladies Night Out.” Another woman who calls PokerStars home is
Vanessa Rousso. In 2005, Rousso caught the attention of the poker world when,
at age 22, she became the youngest woman to make the final table in a World Series of Poker circuit event. Since then, Rousso has cashed in
several major events. Her biggest win of her career was fittingly on PokerStars, when she placed 2nd in the main event of the World Championship
of Online Poker in 2007, winning over $700,000. In addition to her accomplishments, Rousso has a degree in Economics from Duke University,
speaks three languages, and studies law at the University of Miami – all while making time to play in some of the largest tournaments in the world.
Other female members of Team PokerStars include German native Katja Thater and UK journalist Victoria Coren.
Gavin Griffin is a unique member of Team PokerStars and the poker community. In January 2008, when he won the World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Open,
Griffin became the first player to win the "triple crown," meaning he now held a World Series bracelet, a European Poker Tour victory,
and a World Poker Tour title. In addition to this amazing accomplishment, Griffin has had an impressive career as a poker player and writer.
Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier had made a name for himself on PokerStars before ever joining the team. This former Starcraft champion
quickly became an online poker sensation while playing regularly in the biggest cash games and tournaments. Known to play 12-14 tables
at once, Grospellier proved that he was more than just an online player in 2008 when he won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
This list of current and
former team members is lengthy, but all the PokerStars professionals have proven themselves to be among the best. Members of the
Team PokerStars can be found playing regularly on PokerStars and in tournaments around the globe.
