Blind Raise - Raising the hand before looking at your cards.
Blind raises are not a common practice in poker because it is generally not a smart move to put money into a pot
without applying all of the information available.
Players raise blind for many different
reasons. Some players might make a blind raise before the cards are dealt because they haven't played a hand in awhile
and are doing it out of frustration. It is not a wise move and more experienced players have learned that it takes a lot
patience to play poker and to not get frustrated by the lack of good starting cards.
Other players might raise blind to create some
action in a game that has been extremely
tight. If a table change isn't
available and a player is sitting in a dull game, livening up a table is possible if some money gets thrown around by
betting blind. It is especially effective if the player who raises blind and has a total trash hand ends up putting a
bad beat on an opponent.
