Fifth Street –
1. In flop games, it is the final board card.
2. The fifth card in Stud
Also known as “the river” card,
fifth street can often make or break a player’s holding, ending the hand in dramatic fashion.
In Stud games, Fifth Street is the third card dealt face up, and is a significant card because the betting
amount doubles to the “big bet” at that point in the hand. It is common for players holding very strong Stud hands (i.e. –
“rolled up”) to wait until fifth
street to check-raise, as
they will earn more big bets as opposed to leading out early in the hand when bets are half value.
Also, Positively Fifth Street is a poker book written by James McManus.
