Fill Up – To make a full house.
Commonly heard in Stud games when a player hits a card matching one of his two already existing pair. “He filled up on 6th
street with a third queen.”
The earliest point a player can “fill up” would be on 5th street in a Stud game, or on a very lucky flop in Hold’em.
Depending on the size of the pot late in a hand and if you have proper
pot odds, it can be correct to chase
with two pair against an opponent’s obvious
straight or
flush, hoping to “fill up”.
You are more like to make a full house if you have three of a kind rather than two pair because you have more outs.
