Flush Draw – When a player has cards of the same suit and continues playing the hand hoping to complete a flush.

Even though flush draws are drawing hands, they have potential to be big winners. Suited aces (eg. AJ of clubs) and suited connectors (87 of diamonds, 75 of clubs, etc.) are usually the hands that pay off the best. The suited ace hands are often times the nuts if a possible flush is on board and the suited connectors can make pairs and straights as well as flushes. The other great thing about the suited connector hands is that it is difficult for your opponent to put you on a hand so you will get paid off often when you make your hand.

Typically, it is very common in a Stud (with the first 3 cards of a same suit) or Hold’em game (first two hole cards of a suit) for players to continue playing the hand on a “flush draw”. In Stud games where a player starts a hand with 4 of a suit, he will often bet out or raise with his “flush draw”, hoping to get extra money into the pot with hopes of completing his hand. Similarly in Hold’em, players holding suited cards who see a flop with two more of their suit will often be aggressive hoping to complete their flush draw.
