Freeze-Out – A game where all players play until one player has all the money.

The term "freeze-out" is usually used to describe a tournament format in which play resumes until one player accumulates all the chips. These type of tournaments are different from rebuy tournaments because there is a specific amount of chips that you start with and once you lose those chips, you are eliminated.

As freezeout tournaments progress, tables break (the floorman moves players from one table to another table) and the empty seats are filled in by the players from the broken tables. This continues until there is one final table and the players then play on until there is one winner. This is in contrast to shootout tournaments where each table is separate from the others. In shootouts, the seats are not filled in and each table continues playing until there is one winner on each table. Once all tables have a declared winner, those players are combined and then play some more.
