Hit and Run - Winning big in a short amount of time and then leaving the table.

Players that sit down in a game (online or in a brick and mortar) and then immediately leave after winning a large pot are said to have hit and run. These players hope for a quick score with no intention of staying around for fear of losing back their quickly won profits.

Many players see it as poor etiquette to “hit and run” at a poker table. While it annoys most players, others look at it a little differently: Hit and Run players don't make much of a difference in any particular game except that they tend to piss off some players which is always good for the game.

Hitting and running is probably not the most profitable route for poker players because it defies one of pokers basic fundamentals. The way you make money in poker is by putting in the hours at positive expectation. If you are a winning player and jump up anytime you are winning, you are cutting out your hours therefore cutting some of your profits. Hitting and running against props though will often be a financially profitable particularly in big bet games since the hit and run artist can quit but the props can't.

Casinos usually have rules against hit and run situations.  You can't sit down in a game with $500, turn it into $800, cash out and then sit back down in the same game with $500 again.
