Lay Down - To fold your hand.
The term laydown is literally taken from the physical act of laying your cards down on the table and pushing them
toward the dealer when you fold.
Often players will comment on the “quality” of an opponent’s fold by proclaiming “good laydown”, insinuating that
despite holding a good hand they were most probably beat. If it is obvious to most players at the table that you were
bluffed off a strong hand, you might get razzed with “terrible laydown!”
Every player needs to make good lay downs on occasion. Sometimes a player will make a laydown even though they have the
best hand. The bottom line is that the players should use all the information they have accumulated and make the best
decision possible.
