Leak - A factor that a player can control, but doesn't and it causes the player to lose all or some of his bankroll.

Just like water leaks through a bucket with a hole in it, money can slip through your fingers when playing poker if (when) you make bad decisions. Leaks are not mathematical fluctuations. They are factors that are within a players control.

There are a whole slew of leaks that can cause you to lose your poker bankroll. There are leaks you have while playing poker. Some examples are playing when on tilt, playing for too many hours at a time, playing pet hands (playing 94 because your birthday is September 4th and you think it is lucky), calling with weak holdings hoping to improve, and letting personal grudges affect your decisions when playing with the person.

There are also factors away from the table that are considered leaks. Players that lose money in other gambling outlets such as sports betting, table games (such as craps or blackjack) and slot machines are also guilty of having leaks.
