Overpair - A pair that is higher in value than any other card on the board

Similar to the concept of overcard, an overpair is a pocket pair in Hold’em that is higher than the highest card on the board.

For example, if you hold KK and the flop is Q-J-5, you have an overpair to the board. Comparing two players’ hands in an all-in confrontation, if both have pocket pairs, the player with the highest one has an overpair to the other.

Heads up, an overpair is favored approximately four to one over an underpair and thus holds great strength.
