Rainbow – Cards with different suits.
In flop games, a rainbow board is a
flop where there is no cards of the same suit. In Omaha games (where you are dealt four cards), all four of a player’s dealt
hole cards are of different suits.
Analogous to a rainbow in the sky having no repeating colors, a rainbow flop has three different “colors” in the form
of different suits. A rainbow flop makes it impossible for a
flush to be made on the turn. A complete
five card board can also be referred to as “rainbow” as long as there is not more than two of any one suit present, thus no
flush is possible by any player.
A rainbow board with no pairs will not go unnoticed by a person who is playing a
straight, as that condition eliminates
all threats, except a higher straight.
