Rush – A winning streak.

A player who seemingly cannot lose is said to be “on a rush”. Rushes can turn a low stack in a tournament into the chip leader in a very short amount of time. A rush can be little (2 or 3 big hands in a row), or huge (winning the majority of hands over a longer stretch).

Players who are on rushes sometimes gamble more (play cards they would normally avoid) when they are “rushing”. They try to take advantage of what seems to be a run of luck that goes way beyond the law of averages. When showing down inferior cards that end up winning, you will often hear a player proclaim, “I’m playing my rush!”

The best time to have a rush in a tournament is in the latter stages when the blinds and bets are large. Just one rush in a ring game session can make a patient player a tidy profit at the end of the day.
