Stacked Deck - A deck which has been illegally arranged to give an advantage to one or more players.
One way of cheating in a poker game is to arrange the cards in a favorable manner for a certain player or players,
before the start of the deal. A deck that is fixed in this manner is called a “stacked deck,” or a “cold deck.” To
maximize the profit from this type of cheating, the losing player is often set up with a very strong hand and the
winning player is set up with an even stronger hand. This creates a lot of action from both the winner and the loser.
In a casino setting, it is very rare for a stacked deck to make it into play. This is because there is very effective
video surveillance and deck handling procedures designed to prevent the introduction of stacked decks.
