String Bet - A bet which may bet invalidated because it was not verbalized or made in a continuous motion.

In most poker rooms, players are expected to either verbalize their bet or to make their bet in a single continuous motion. This is to prevent players from acting, evaluating their opponents’ response, and subsequently making adjustments to their action. If players do not verbalize, or make their bet in one motion, it may be ruled a string bet. If this happens, the bettor may either have the bet invalidated or may be required to restore the bet made in the initial betting motion. Most poker rooms have rules against string bets, but they must be called by a player involved in the hand.
