Suited - Cards of identical suits.
Cards with matching suits are called “suited.” In a Holdem game, hole cards of the same suit are referred to as
“suited;” and if they are also consecutively ranked they are called “suited connectors.” Suited connectors are
considered to be a moderately valued to highly valued starting hands depending upon your
position and the cards’
rankings. Many players overplay suited cards, and you should be careful not to do this as it can be costly. It is true
that a suited hand is considered to be of higher value than an unsuited hand of the same
rank. This is because a suited
hand is far more likely to make a flush than an unsuited hand, and a flush is a strong hand in most games. This does
not mean that you should play every suited hand that you are dealt (or every suited connecting hand for that matter).
Your primary consideration should be the hand’s rank and your position. Whether the hand is suited or not is often a
secondary consideration.
