Tournament - An event where players compete for prizes (usually monetary).
Poker tournaments are very common and players can find some kind of tournament every hour of every day whether it be in
a casino or online.
The most common type of tournament is the freezeout
style where a group of players sit down with the same number of chips and continue play until only one player has all of the
chips. In this type of event, all player buy-in for a specified amount and each person starts out with the same amount of
starting chips. Some other types of tournaments include heads-up matches and events with
rebuys and
add-ons.
The payout in tournaments varies as well, but the most common payout
structure is to pay 9 spots for every 100
entrants with the top three spots receiving the majority of the money.
