Playing online poker
has some major advantages to playing in brick and mortar
casinos. One of the most significant is being able to take advantage of excellent software to help you with your game and to help analyze
your opponents. This can all be done while playing in your game and can help you with real time decisions. Among all the software on the market,
Poker Tracker is probably the most popular tool.
Poker Tracker is a computer program that allows you to analyze your online play in Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha High/Low, 7 Card Stud
Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud and Razz. It retrieves information from the hand histories played online.
Tracker stores
and summarizes your hand histories and then you can evaluate your (or your opponent's) strengths and weaknesses based on the information.
With PokerTracker, you can see the amount you won or lost in any given game and limit, the percentage of time you won
at showdown, and your preflop aggression factor. You can even break down your starting hands and see how well they
perform. Some other features include storing information from multiple sites on the same database, tracking your best
and worst opponents by letting you know who you have won or lost the most money to, and replaying a hand or session graphically.
The software offers so many features that it would be impossible to talk about each and every one in a one page article.
There are
a few websites with visual tutorials available if Tracker's software seems too complicated, but every possible question has
probably been answered in Poker Tracker's FAQ and/or
forum. Their comprehensive FAQ page covers almost
every topic and should help get you started. They cover the basic information like telling you how to register, how to import
your hand histories and how to compact your data base. They also cover more advanced topics like obtaining tournament summaries
and how to transfer your Poker Tracker information to a new computer. If for some reason, you still have a question
then you can take a look at their message board and it's highly likely that it has been asked and answered before you.
The cost of Poker Tracker is reasonable. There is a free version of poker tracker that allows you to import up to 1,000
hands. If you like the software, you can upgrade to one of the full versions for $55 (any additional versions will cost
$45). There are three different versions: Poker Tracker Holdem, Poker Tracker Omaha, and Poker Tracker Stud, so if you
buy all three it, will cost you $145. That is a very small investment considering Poker Tracker should increase your
profits and the price will pay for itself in time.
You can make payments for any or all versions of Poker Tracker using PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or Diners Club.
There are add-on programs (for a fee) that you can use along with your Poker-Tracker software and you will be able to analyze
things a little further. Among the many programs are PokerAce HUD which overlays the stats right on your table and Table
Shark which helps players with table selections.
